DO IT FOR THE GRAM...OR NOT!

You have to do it for the gram or you didn't do it? WHO SAID THAT?!?! lol Whether that is True or not, do something new. Instagram is like a vision board anyway so why not add some new art to your likes :)

Most of the time, people hear museum and automatically make a face or be hesitant to do anything real artsy or "boring" which I understand. But sometimes you do need a dose of art and creativity in your life so that you are open to other things instead of the norm or even just to take a cute picture to show that new guy you’re dating that you like art ;-). Well, with social media, everyone loves taking pictures and being apart of the “it” crowd aka they just wanna be down but so what. There are tons of people who probably don’t like art or anything dealing with art but now that artists are evolving and being more creative with their work, they are now doing more interactive exhibits to catch those non artsy people attention. These exhibits don’t have to always deal with art but it does have a large impact in the art world. Many exhibits are shown in galleries, museums, and now moved on to doing pop up exhibits.

Pop up exhibits was found around 2007 in New York City (side bar but this is why I be so excited to be from NYC like we really have so much to do, so much new things to try, and it gives you that urge that you can do whatever you put your heart to even though living here is way overpriced but that’s another story for another time). Anyways, pop ups were created for artist to show their art work for a temporary time frame plus it gives business owners a way to still keep their building running. Pop ups is a good way to give your audience a feel of what you are into whether it is art, fashion, music, or anything your heart desires. Lately, museums and art galleries have been doing interactive exhibits to reach more audiences and target their same crowd and with social media who wouldn’t want to show off a cool pic in a pit of balls. This post will display 3 pop up exhibits/installations that’s fun for the whole family or even if you want to do some cute “Do it for the gram” flicks with your best gal friend, these cute exhibits is the place to go.

FOR NEW READERS EVERYTHING IS BASED IN NEW YORK CITY*

I heard Mickey and Minnie where in town but too bad its for a short period of time so therefore, if you love them you better head over to the Meatpacking District and pay the fee of $38 to go see this exhibit. This exhibit you will see over 100 images of Mickey that was drawn by an artist name Brian Bress and many more and also one of my favorite artists did some damage here too, if you didn’t know its Keith Haring (just had to throw that in there). This immersive experience is all inspired by Mickey’s status “True Original” and his consistent impact on the arts and creativity in all its form. Unfortunately, this exhibit is over Feb 10th and yes, they still have tickets on sale and you do have a couple days to go and check it out.

Don’t drip me in black in white but in color! This next exhibit has 16 rooms full of color installations that you can enjoy. Tickets are $38 and can only be purchased online so if you are feeling the colors then look up Color Factory. Color Factory is located on Spring Street in NYC better known as the Soho area. Days and hours vary so you would have to look up the information for more details and as far as I know the installation is still up and running. Also, each room is equipped with cameras just in case you go alone you can take your own picture with a self-timer and send it right to you so If you don’t have nobody to go with, no need to wait. GO RIGHT AHEAD WITHOUT THEM AND HAVE THEM LIKE THAT GRAM PHOTO YOU POSTED OKURRRRR!!

Now this exhibit is the one to do it for the gram! This exhibit is photographically fun and you will be laughing, making jokes, taking selfies, asking the person you came with to take 100 photos just to get the right 1. They have many different illusions that will have you seeing double or even triple. You and or friend can be a head platter which I think is funny. They also have an Anti-gravity room, an infinity room aka hall of mirrors so make sure your ‘walk pass a mirror selfie’ game is on point. There is also a room where you can walk on a wall, sort of but you have to go and check it out. Nothing is as it seems that is because it is the Museum of Illusions and everything is far-fetched. Check out The Museum of Illusions in the Meatpacking Distract and the price for this is about $20.

So as spring and summer approaches, there will be tons of pop up events to check out and if you are going to check out certain exhibits make sure you plan ahead because some have long lines and wait times because they are so popular and remember to be courteous while there, have fun, and also
